On Thursday, March 9, families will come together at Joppatowne Elementary for a Superhero STEAM Night. This event was planned through the partnership and collaboration of Hot Spots and School STEM Committee, in effort to engage and educate the Joppatowne School community in alignment with the School Community Goals.
On the night of the event, students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of STEM-related activities, rotating through stations for thirty minutes. Families will also be given the chance to take part in two thirty-minute STEM lessons, in which they will use the engineer and design process to plan and design an activity related to the superhero theme.
The structured activities at the Joppatowne Superhero STEAM night will students and their families with the opportunity to participate in hands-on investigations which promote problem solving, inquiry and teamwork.
Following the event, Hot Spots will provide students and parents with the necessary supplies to complete a STEM Challenge at home. Together, parents and students will apply the engineer and design process, record and report their results with their child’s class. Every family who participates will receive a small superhero incentive and the class who demonstrates the greatest level of parent and student participation will receive a group incentive!
